Surprise Engagement at WRAL Gardens in Raleigh
Jacob wanted to surprise Sam with the most memorable of proposals, and pop the big question at WRAL’s Azalea Gardens.
Secretly, he enlisted the help of Sam’s mom, Margaret, to help devise a plan.
With the location selected, engagement ring purchased, and a team of professional photographers to capture the moment, the only thing left was to do it!
Check out the video to see how a walk through the garden, turns into something else entirely when Sam sees the rose petals, and everything starts to unfold…
Afterwards, Sam says she thought a proposal was gonna happen soon, but had no idea this plan was in the works.
After a few posed pictures with the photographer, it was all over and Sam was content to ride away with her man…but actually…it wasn’t over…
Jacob had one more surprise up his short sleeves! In downtown Raleigh, at Taverna Agora, their friends and families were waiting on them, with champagne on ice .
Once again, Jacob pulled it off! Sam was overwhelmed with joy as she walked up the stairs and saw everyone.
There were so many hugs! We couldn’t share pics of all the hugs, or this post would go on forever. There was so much joy and happiness, as Sam made her way around to greet everyone.
And then, there was the big bear hug from mom!
And, of course, the showing of the ring…
Congratulations to the happy couple!
We look forward to seeing these guys again, at a later date.

One piece of the story has fallen in to place, as we asked police whether Ian Delauder had interaction with the Cary Fire Department (first to arrive on the scene) or the Cary Police Department prior to the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Sergeant Alexander told us, “In listening to radio traffic, it is believed that Mr. Delauder suffered his gunshot wound after the arrival of the fire department. We do not know the timing of his wound in relation to the arrival of police officers. He did not have an interaction with the police.”
