Invented nearly a century ago by San Francisco-based cosmetics manufacturer, Luis Marcus, bobby pins were created to tame one of the most iconic haircuts of the 1920s, known as the “bob”.
Through the decades, bobby pins have mainly been tucked and hidden within elaborate hairdos, to keep them in place. Though decorative versions of these hairpins have been around for some time, a recent trend is to wear multiple, fancier pins, in geometric formations.
